Fasting is understood as the taking of only one full meal a day,
binding on all who are age 18-59 (inclusive) in good health.
Abstinence consists in refraining from the consumption of meat,
binding on all who are age 14 and older.
All are encouraged to see that children who are not bound by the obligations
are led to appreciate an authentic sense of penance.
